My name is Toby Goodman, and I’m the Director of an amazing band called Metropolis. We are a live music and event production company with a fresh outlook, based in the UK with a growing international client base. I wanted to write a few words about how great it is when top quality suppliers work together to make an event as good as it can be.

I’ve been a professional touring and recording musician for 13 years. I’ve had vast experience not only working for big name rock and pop artists and for West End Shows, but also regularly for many of the UK’s top function bands. Metropolis has also been growing steadily for 13 years, but it’s within the last 2 years that James (the founding Director) and I have joined forces to grow the band to be a premier choice across the corporate, private & Simcha circuits. Our decision to leave full time touring behind echoes the values we are constantly reminded of when James & I meet engaged couples to plan their Simchas. We both still manage to keep our hand in, and when Metropolis is not playing at an event in London, Paris or Delhi, you are likely to find one of us playing on a show in the West End, recording in a studio or of course… at home with our families!

The recent wedding in Cheshire (congratulations again to Tracey and Dave) also had us event managing prior to and on the big day. With three Rabbis involved in the Chuppah as well as our pianist and violinist, we also performed music for Irish dancing along with Israeli and pop music sets. We were able to go into this wedding truly relaxed, knowing that everything would run smoothly and any issues would be resolved with minimum fuss because of the quality of our events team, as well as having such a top notch photographer around like Blake Ezra.

Blake’s respect and understanding for events and appreciation of the ‘bigger picture’ have secured his place as one of the preferred photographers on the scene today, not just with clients but with other suppliers too. Blake always proves to be an essential part of the events team beyond the camera, making a point of getting to know and understand what all the suppliers do, putting them at ease and enabling him to get amazing shots of everyone and everything… from the food to the dance floor. Our musicians always warm to his friendly and non-intrusive style of photography.

Most recently, we worked with Blake in his studio on a special photo shoot for a new style of Metropolis band, which is launching very soon. It was without a second thought we chose Blake Ezra Photography at Elstree Photo Studios because we knew his work would help us gain that special unique brand identity and spark that our clients will love.

This means our performance is truly as unique to you as the images Blake captures. As I mentioned before, at the wedding we played in Manchester, which Blake Ezra’s team photographed, the Bride and her family were Irish. So we brought in a fiddle player and an Irish vocalist, and performed a whole set of Irish songs which went down a treat! The ‘Boys vs. Girls’ dance-off was also incredible – everyone got involved!
