Lunch and Laughter: Jennie Bond and The Local Angels

By

This week saw us once again involved in a wonderful annual event, the Jewish Care Local Angels Luncheon, which was held at the Marriott Waltham Abbey. The Local Angels are an Essex-based committee of dedicated ladies, who put on fabulous events in order to raise money for an exceptional organisation.

These events are always a lot of fun, with a lively crowd and a great atmosphere guaranteed. The committee was set up in 2008 and Chaired by Gayle Klein; they meet to develop creative ways to fundraise for Jewish Care services in the Essex area. The centre in Redbridge delivers social, welfare and educational programmes to over 2000 people every week.

This year the guest speaker was none other than former Royal correspondent, I’m A Celebrity contestant and all-round National Treasure, Jennie Bond. Jennie was absolutely consummate from the moment she walked in, chatting to everybody, posing for pictures, and speaking brilliantly when she took the microphone – on all subjects from the Royal family, to being a female journalist, to Bushtucker trials! She commented after the event: “It is a great privilege to meet a group of inspirational and compassionate ladies who raise money for a great cause and who have fun at the same time.”

We are glad to say the event raised over £25,000 for essential welfare services. Here are some of our favourite shots from the day…
