Last week, James from the much sought-after band Metropolis came in to the studio to spend a few hours with one of our fantastic Associate Photographers, Steph. The brief being was not the most stringent, which often is liberating for creative types – James said “do what you want with me” and “I need some cool images for my website”. Steph, having met James at numerous previous events at prestigious venues including The Langham and The Mere, knew he would be a great model, as he is ultra fun and laidback.

James turned up with his electric bass and gorgeous massive double bass, along with a range of clothing options, and with Steph having done some research before the shoot and having a clear idea of what she wanted to achieve, James got straight into ‘model mode’.

Having photographed musicians and members of bands at events and gigs before, Steph looked forward to the opportunity of having some control over the shoots, being able to spend time to composing the lighting and James himself, which is obviously very different to capturing whatever happens on stage. During the shoot, Steph used numerous different lighting techniques and poses, providing James with a set of strong and varied shots, suitable for many uses.
