Last night, we arrived back at HQ at about 3am, and we were absolutely buzzing. Sleep wasn’t even an option until we’d calmed down slightly from what was a crazy, high-octane whirlwind of a wedding – with two brilliant people tying the knot. Sabrina and David were married at the Grosvenor House Hotel in Mayfair, Blake and Emma were on the scene from 11am until 2am, creating a unique set of photos for this awesome couple. Despite having covered countless events in The Great Room, we had never photographed a wedding there before, and never worked in the Ballroom – which is spectacular.
This day was always going to involve a massive party, we’d been lucky enough to photograph the weddings of some of Sabrina and David’s friends over the past year, so we had an inkling that this was going to be ludicrously high energy. It did not disappoint. Whatever Sabrina and David are doing, they’re doing it right – they have a MASSIVE group of friends who all celebrated as though it was their own wedding day, there was a lot of love in the room.
From the crazy Jewish dancing to the standing up on chairs singing through the main course, from the UK Garage tunes to the lollies being handed out in the evening and some after-hours portraits, this was massive fun for anyone lucky enough to be there. A big ‘shout out’ must go the the unfeasibly entertaining Fil Straughan and his band, Strong Sensation. Fil was born to entertain, have fun, and make sure everyone else is having fun too – not that this crowd needed any encouragement!
At Sabrina’s family home in the morning, the family were getting made up by Abbie Tyler and Sarah Field. This was the first time we have ever worked alongside Deneemotion who were filming the day, and we’re glad to have some more weddings booked alongside them later in the year, Denis and David were easy to work with and seriously talented. The Ballroom looked absolutely stunning, with flowers provided by Alexandra’s Florist. Keeping the evening ticking over with military precision was the excellent Toastmaster Robert Persell whilst the wonderful food and super-cool dance-floor snacks were all provided by kosher caterer Ben Tenenblat.
Sabrina and David were a pleasure to be around, and great to photograph too. We wish a Mazal Tov again to all the families! As regular readers of this blog (not that we’re sure there is such a thing) know, we always find it tricky to choose a preview selection of images so soon after the big day, but here are a few of our early favourites…
