TV Talk: Dan Patterson and Lord Michael Grade
ByThis evening saw yet another fascinating and entertaining event take place in the Main Hall at JW3, one of many in the opening season of this incredible cultural establishment. The format of the evening is named ‘Out Of The Box’ as audience members had been invited to submit questions in advance, which are then placed in a box on stage. This time around, it was Dan Patterson and Lord Michael Grade answering the questions. For those of you unfamiliar with these two giants of British television…
Dan Patterson is a television producer and writer, the man behind the British and American versions of the legendary ‘Whose Line Is It Anyway?’ and the on-its-way-to-being-legendary ‘Mock The Week’. His first play, ‘The Duck House’ has also recently opened in the West End, and is sure to be a great success.
Lord Grade was born into a Jewish show-business family originally called Winogradsky; he was always destined to succeed in the entertainment industry as his father was the theatrical agent Leslie Grade and his uncles were the impresarios Lew Grade and Bernard Delfont. Amongst many other positions, he has been Manager of Morecambe and Wise, Chairman of the BBC and Executive Chairman of ITV. Basically, there isn’t much he doesn’t know about television and entertainment.
They both spoke humorously and candidly, answering all questions which were put before them. They also both posed for a quick portrait after the show had finished. Here are a few of our favourite shots…
